Patrick Maples is a self-taught artist who resides in Austin, Texas.  His paintings often focus on the self-inflicted isolation and disconnection between people within society due to the desire to maintain self-image and to reject the perspectives of others.  Influenced by artists such as Schiele, Modigliani, and Van Gogh, his paintings combine dramatic colors and varied texture to create a feeling of ceaseless underlying energy.
